


You might wake up one day and simple find it gone due to having been sent a self-kill signal overnight. You might not think they will abuse it (Apple has definitely abused this power already), but when you install an app through the Play Store, essentially you are trusting Google to allow you to keep that app installed in the future. Furthermore, Google has the power to force-delete any app installed through their app store. Installing the official APK from the website is no more 'risky' than the normal way of installing it in your desktop computer in fact, the official APK eliminates the risk that an app store version could be out of date due to a slow approval process, or have features restricted in future by increasingly corporate-friendly app store policies.
